There's no separate tax rate for a bonus in Pakistan. It counts as salary and is added to your income for the tax year, so it's taxed at the rate of your top slab, or the one above it.
How much tax on a bonus? (2026-27)
| Monthly salary | Bonus | Extra tax from the bonus | Rate | Bonus you keep |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rs 100,000 | Rs 100,000 | Rs 11,000 | 11% | Rs 89,000 |
| Rs 100,000 | Rs 300,000 | Rs 33,000 | 11% | Rs 267,000 |
| Rs 150,000 | Rs 100,000 | Rs 11,000 | 11% | Rs 89,000 |
| Rs 150,000 | Rs 300,000 | Rs 33,000 | 11% | Rs 267,000 |
| Rs 250,000 | Rs 100,000 | Rs 20,000 | 20% | Rs 80,000 |
| Rs 250,000 | Rs 300,000 | Rs 65,000 | 22% | Rs 235,000 |
How your employer deducts it
- Your employer adds the bonus to your expected salary for the year and works out the new yearly tax.
- Many employers take all the extra tax in the bonus month, so that payslip shows a bigger deduction.
- If the bonus pushes you into the next slab, only the part above the line is taxed at the higher rate, not your whole salary.
